Community leaders representing Guatemalans residing in Nevada met on March 21, 2010 with Representatives of the Guatemalan National Council for Migrant Attention (CONAMIGUA) in Washington, DC.

CONAMIGUA is comprised of nine representatives of different regions in the United States with high concentration of Guatemalans. Representing Southern California and Nevada are Julio Villasenor and his alternate Marvin Pinto.

There are some 15,000 Guatemalans living in the state of Nevada. Two leading organizations have provided support to the Guatemalan community of Nevada, the Guatemalan Unity Committee of Nevada, based in Las Vegas; and the Guatemalan Fraternity of Northern Nevada, based in Reno.

The Guatemalan Unity Committee of Nevada is the oldest organization representing Guatemalans in Nevada. For more information about COMUGUA contact Israel Fuentes at (702) 302-1014.
