Binational Commission Dialogue in Nevada

The Vice Consul of El Salvador in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Honorable Juan Antonio Salamanca Escolera hosted the Consul General of Guatemala in Los Angeles, California, the Honorable Lic. Pablo Garcia Saenz, on Thursday, April 15, 2010.


Both Consuls spoke about moving forward the implementation of the Binational Commission, signed in 2,000, and comprised of three Commissions, political, economic, and cooperation. During the signing of the agreement, the governments of El Salvador en Guatemala agreed to continue the process towards Central American integration.

Regarding immigration issues, corresponding Consulates will work together to stregthen consular protection and assistance, through the establishment of joint consular bases.

"I intend to present my report to the Guatemalan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Haroldo Rodas Melgar, on the topic of setting up a consular agency in Las Vegas, Nevada, housed within the offices of the Consulate of El Salvador," commented Consul General Garcia Saenz. "We can extend reciprocal courtesies in jurisdictions where Guatemala has a consulate office and El Salvador does not. Our common goal is to work in collaboration as to achieve an optimization of our resources, so we can better serve our respective constituencies," concluded Consul Garcia Saenz.
